Our last Meetup focused on the future of design systems. Our guest was Lukas Oppermann, Staff Systems Designer at GitHub, who shared his experiences and insights – especially on the role of designers in times of the AI revolution.
How AI is changing design systems and our role as designers
Lukas showed how AI can automate repetitive tasks and, through standardization, partially automate the development of design systems. This raises the question: What does this mean for us as designers? His presentation highlighted opportunities as well as challenges. AI is changing the practice of design. It could mean less routine, more strategy. Will designers need to sharpen their problem-solving skills and get more involved in human-centered design?
